Charlotte Deaf Mission

History of the Charlotte Deaf Mission

Since 1911, Charlotte's First Baptist Church has ministered to the Deaf in the Charlotte region. Programs reaching them for Christ have varied throughout the years. They ranged from a Sunday afternoon Bible Study group to a Sunday School Department along with Worship Services signed by an interpreter.

In 1988, after recognizing the Deaf's unique language and culture, the church was established for the Deaf by the local Baptist i association, the state convention, and First Baptist Church.

Today, Charlotte Deaf Mission holds regular meetings throughout the week for the members.
